Silver Rises as Precious Metals Rebound — November 4, 2026
Precious metals rebound in early trading on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with silver leading the move higher. Silver rose more than 2.5 percent from the previous close in U.S. dollar terms, recovering a large part of Tuesday's decline. In Canadian dollars, as of 1:19 AM ET, gold stood at C$5,609.88 an ounce, silver at C$72.15 an ounce, and platinum at C$2,040.58 an ounce on Gold Stock's live Canadian pricing. Against the previous close, silver is up 3.44 percent from C$69.74, gold is up 1.87 percent from C$5,506.66, and platinum is up 2.57 percent from C$1,989.48.
Tuesday's slide was driven by growing expectations that U.S. interest rates will stay higher for longer. Markets price strong odds of a Federal Reserve rate increase at the December meeting after the Fed held its benchmark rate at 3.75 to 4.00 percent on October 28 in a 10–2 vote, with two officials favoring another increase, and stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs and factory data on Tuesday lifted Treasury yields further. Overnight, buyers returned after the sell-off, while U.S. midterm election uncertainty and Middle East tensions kept defensive demand for precious metals in place — a combination that lifted all three metals together in early Wednesday trading.
What it means for buyers: even after the rebound, Canadian prices — gold near C$5,610, silver near C$72, and platinum near C$2,041 an ounce — remain well below recent highs, so buyers adding physical metal today are still buying below the levels of just weeks ago. Because a market that can rebound this quickly can also fall back just as quickly, staging purchases in tranches rather than all at once is a measured way to build a position while this volatility lasts. Confirm the live price at the time of purchase, as intraday moves of this size change totals quickly.
What it means for sellers: the rebound restores much of what Tuesday's decline took away. With silver back above C$72 an ounce and gold back above C$5,600 an ounce in Canadian pricing, coins, bars, jewelry, and scrap are worth more this morning than they were at Tuesday's lows. Anyone considering a sale should lock in a live quote, since prices are moving quickly in both directions and there is no way to know how long any single level will hold.
