Support levels: $2,582.90, $2,568.80, $2,554.10 Resistance levels: $2,603.20, $2,617.55, $2,632.00 Fundamental Overview Spot gold faced selling pressure early in the American session after peaking at $2,626.31 during European trading hours. The U.S. Dollar initially weakened but regained strength due to robust economic data and hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve (Fed). The Fed recently announced a 25-basis-point rate cut while adopting a cautious outlook on future rate reductions. Global stock markets reacted negatively, with most Asian and European indices closing in the red following Wall Street’s slump. U.S. markets opened on a mixed note, trimming some of Wednesday’s losses but remaining under selling pressure, which supported the U.S. Dollar’s recovery. Adding to the Dollar’s strength, U.S. economic data exceeded expectations. The final estimate of Q3 GDP showed annualized growth at 3.1%, higher than the previous 2.8%. Additionally, Initial Jobless Claims for the week ending December 13 fell to 220,000 from the prior week’s 242,000, beating the forecast of 230,000. The Bank of Japan (BoJ) and the Bank of England (BoE) also announced monetary policy decisions. The BoJ left its short-term rate target unchanged within the 0.15%-0.25% range, providing no hints on future policy moves. The BoE maintained its benchmark rate at 4.75%, with policymakers signaling a cautious approach to upcoming rate cuts.
