Buy Silver Bars in Canada — Minted and Cast, Priced Live in CAD
Silver bars are the cost-efficient way to own silver: the same .999 fine metal as a coin, at a lower premium per ounce, in weights that run from a single ounce to a full kilo. Gold Stock Corp sells minted and cast silver bars from recognized refiners at our Mississauga head-office store (1323 Matheson Blvd E), our Malton store (7086 Airport Rd #3) and our Vancouver store (736 Granville St #510), and by insured delivery anywhere in Canada, every price built from the live Canadian-dollar spot price.
Choosing a silver bar weight
The premium per ounce falls as the bar grows, which is the whole arithmetic of silver bars. A 1 ounce bar is the most flexible — easy to sell one at a time, easy to give, easy to store in small spaces — and carries the highest premium per ounce. Ten-ounce bars are the stacker's workhorse: a meaningful weight in one piece at a materially lower cost per ounce. The kilo bar (32.1507 troy ounces) and the 100 ounce bar carry the lowest premiums of all, and suit buyers converting a lump sum who have storage planned.
Minted bars arrive sealed with an assay certificate and a serial number; cast bars are poured, a little rougher, and often a little cheaper per ounce. For investment purposes either serves — what matters is a recognized refiner, .999 fineness or better, and a dealer who will buy the bar back without an argument.
The Canadian tax point on silver
Unlike investment gold, silver is generally subject to GST/HST in Canada: silver bars do not meet the precious-metals exemption's conditions in the way qualifying gold, platinum and palladium do, so the applicable GST/HST is added to a silver purchase and shown on your invoice. That is a real part of the Canadian cost comparison between metals, and it is one reason some Canadian buyers weight their position toward gold. The price you commit to is always the full invoice figure — spot-derived price, premium, tax and any delivery — explained before you pay.
When you sell, the same live-price discipline applies in reverse: Gold Stock Corp buys silver bars back at any of its three stores or by insured mail-in, priced from the live spot price on the day, with the breakdown shown item by item.
Delivery, pickup and buyback
Collect in person at Mississauga, Malton or Vancouver, or take insured, tracked delivery to any address in Canada — silver is heavy for its value, so larger orders are packed and split with the weight in mind. Every bar we sell is a bar our counter will quote to buy back, which is the practical test of a bullion purchase: recognized metal, a live price, and a standing buyer.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best silver bar weight to buy in Canada?
For most buyers, 10 ounce bars balance a lower premium per ounce against flexibility. One-ounce bars are the most flexible and the priciest per ounce; kilo and 100 ounce bars are the cheapest per ounce and the least divisible.
Is GST/HST charged on silver bars in Canada?
Generally yes — silver does not qualify for the GST/HST precious-metals exemption the way qualifying gold does, so the applicable tax is added and shown on your invoice.
Minted or cast silver bars?
Both are .999 fine investment silver from recognized refiners. Minted bars are sealed and serialized; cast bars are poured and often slightly cheaper per ounce. Buyback treats recognized metal on its weight and fineness.
Will Gold Stock Corp buy my silver bars back?
Yes — at our Mississauga, Malton and Vancouver stores, or by insured mail-in from anywhere in Canada, priced from the live spot price on the day.
